RAF Challenge: Week 4 – Weighing in, nutrition updates, and workouts

Welcome to WEEK 4 of the fat loss challenge! I can’t believe there are only two weeks left to this challenge, but it’s like they always say “Time flies when you’re having fun” and I truly AM having lots of fun — with the challenge, at my new gym, with my trainer and even with this new mindful eating plan.

I was so nervous at the end of last week because my period symptoms were showing and I gained 6lbs, which happens each month when my period is coming and then slowly the weight drops again, but then I also went on a pizza and wine tour in New Haven (self-led, haha!) and then I kind of indulged this weekend. This is all a long way of saying that I stopped paying attention and stopped tracking momentarily, but it all worked out because…(drumroll please)…!

WEIGH-IN: 270.0 LBS \\ 40.9 % – as of today, June 8 compared to May 17 when I started this journey.

Since MAY 17 when the challenge started, I have shed 3.4 lbs, dropped 0.6 % of my body fat and 1/2 a point on the BMI scale.

Since MARCH 12 when I joined this new gym, I have shed 9.8 lbs., dropped 24.7 % of my body fat, and a 1.7 on the BMI scale.

Honestly, I am the absolute worst when it comes to updating things like this. I always say that I am going to stay on top of it, but I rarely have five minutes where my mind isn’t racing and can actually sit down to collect its thoughts. I haven’t even kept up with my physical journal these days and normally I am very on top of that.

I haven’t done a very good job of actually going back to the gym and attending classes, aside from my weekly sessions with my personal trainer. Those I attend basically religiously, now that I am no longer anxious about them. I have become very comfortable with him and we have an excellent rapport. I feel like I can be myself, while also seriously completing our workouts. BUT…I have not upheld my promise to myself about going to the other classes that they offer. SO, this week, I have signed up for one class every single day and I am CHALLENGING myself to attend them. I pushed myself to get out the door for class yesterday, and I have no regrets! It felt so great to sweat.

Last week, I lost those five pounds that I had gained due to my expected period and I did a super job of eating right and tracking everything. I didn’t drink nearly enough water, but I am working on correcting that this week. Daily water goal is AT LEAST 64oz!

My vision of success for this challenge would be losing, at least, five more pounds and be able to hold my push-up plank for 1 minute and 30 seconds. I know that sounds so silly and like it’s so easy, but as someone who struggles with believing in herself and with weight loss, it’s harder than it sounds. I’ve been really trying to have more faith in my abilities ever since starting this weight loss mission two years ago. So here I am, putting all of myself into this journey and telling myself YOU’VE GOT THIS!
